Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Community Members:
Welcome to the 2023-24 school year! This year we are implementing Universal Transitional Kindergarten (UTK) and iREADY diagnostic testing in English Language Arts and Math. We are looking forward to offering after school enrichment programs such as the Good News Club, Robotics, Arts and Local Design intervention including Saturday School beginning on September 30th. We have a great year ahead.
We are a School for Advanced Studies (SAS) and STEAM Magnet Center where our focal point is rigorous developmentally appropriate instruction for all students. The gifted, general and special education programs at Hubbard are enhanced by our full arts program that includes music, dance, theater and visual arts. Hubbard Elementary has a strong parent/teacher/student partnership that supports a uniform policy as part of our school-wide positive behavior plan. All students are required to wear a uniform consisting of navy blue or white tops and dark blue or khaki bottoms.
We have been re-certified to offer the School for Advanced Studies (SAS) program for five more years serving grades Kindergarten through fifth. We are continuing the Early Literacy & Language Plan (ELLP) that focuses on developing strong readers in the early years, Kindergarten through 5th. grade. The full arts program for all students as part of our Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) focus is already in its fourth year of implementation. Hubbard Elementary offers a wealth of after school enrichment programs such as the Robotics Club, Homework Club, Reading Club for students & Parents, Coding Club, Science/Math Club, Good News Club and Boys Scouts Club. Our instructional focus is prevention rather than intervention where early literacy reading skills are essential to ensure that all students are reading fluently and critically by second grade and beyond.
